What Is The Element of Play?
A book, framework and movement exploring how adults can reconnect with themselves through play.
The Element of Play is a book, framework and movement created by Jodi Salmond. It explores how adults can use play, creativity, movement, nature connection and joy to recover from burnout, reconnect with themselves and lead with more energy and humanity.
This work is grounded in a simple idea: play is not the opposite of responsibility. It is one of the ways we make responsibility more sustainable.
For many high-functioning people, burnout does not always look like falling apart. It can look like coping, producing, showing up and holding everything together while quietly losing connection to joy, creativity, curiosity and self-trust.
The Element of Play offers a different way back. Through writing, speaking, resources, reflections and The P.L.A.Y. Method, it helps people notice where they have become disconnected and begin creating small, practical moments of aliveness again.
The work is especially relevant for adults, leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals who are tired of hustle culture and want a more human approach to burnout recovery, leadership, wellbeing and self-connection.
The Element of Play connects Jodi Salmond's background in marine science, citizen science, behaviour change, leadership, facilitation and ocean connection with her work in adult play, burnout recovery and playful leadership.
